Daytime bar-mitzvah?
I am going to a saturday day-time bar-mitzvah. I have a black knee-length cocktail dress. It has a netted overlay with sparkly white swirls on the bottom--is that too much for a daytime event? should i try to find something else?

Not really they get decked for these.. You could maybe try to wear something similar without the sparkle..

people can get pretty dressy for daytime b'nei mitzah, so depending on the type of party the family is having it should be fine.
just make sure your shoulders are covered for the temple service.
