For those of you that drank before pregnancy
My DH and I were pretty big drinkers. Mostly wine, went out to dinner, hung out with friends. It was not unusual for us to go through 4 bottles with another couple. Now we just moved to a new city where we really don't know anyone and my DH would like to go see music have some drinks etc. but its boring for me! Do you still go "out?"

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
I still go out about once a month, sometimes twice if its something special...I have a 1 year old also, so that makes it harder, but with my first pregnancy, I went out with my girlfriends all the time until about 6 months, then I was just too tired to stay awake past 9 pm! I found that as long as I was somewhere where there was music and dancing I was never bored...

I still went out - though more so with my first pregnancy than with this one.

I agree! I have craved alcohol more now than ever! Occasionally I take a quick sip of Dh's beer, or a sip of wine....but I usually order Malibu without the Bu LOL
Boring but at least it seems like a real drink even though I know it isn't.

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
well, we never went to bars... they cost too much, and frankly, their drinks are watered down! Restaurants are more of an occassional thing... mainly due to cost. We don't feel right plunking down $75-100 on a regular basis just for food and drink... besides, we cook better than most restaurants
As you can tell, DH and I are homebodies... but we DO love to entertain... make a giant meal, serve super-strong tropical mixed drinks and hang with friends...
It does stink a little when the cocktails are served these days.... but when you're at home, you can make yourself just about anything to compensate (my favorite mocktail is blood orange juice, grenadine, and lime juice )
Maybe try some dinner parties at home instead, and stock your fridge with mixers you can make w/o alcohol?

I totally agree - I could have written this! And when I do have to "go out" for a work function, yes, it is less fun

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
Hey friend-
I was wondering where you were today..left you a vm. Anyway, well you know just like you i drank a lot before pregnancy and while i was pregnant the going out part really didn't bother me..i think it's just hard because you are in a city where it's just you and your DH. Wow we sound like drunks . Honestly, i found getting pregnant and motherhood a life changing experience. Because even after you have the twins you still won't want to drink during the week because you will be up ALL THE FREAKEN TIME. So basically no advise sorry just go out and try to enjoy yourselft or get hubby to Nest with you..but we all know thats not going to happen. 2 weeks until our visit just bought the girls luggage today. Go get a pregnancy massage that will make you feel better and call me.

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
DH owns a bar so that's where we go to see our friends and go "out" - it's totally boring for me to go to a random bar or club, so if DH wants to go somewhere i tell him to go with friends. we were both big drinkers before i got PG, and he's definitely cut down since then, but i don't know if it's by choice

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
I go out and order something fun to drink like slushies, or ask for something fun to drink for a pregnant lady. I had a delish drink today at Cheesecake factory mango iced something, also had a yummer strawberry daquari (sp?) I am dying for a pitcher of Sangria, for myself! But I guess a glass of wine will do after delievery. Good luck and go out and have fun while you can, order them up, virgin of course!

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
I had a drink at home once in awhile after my 1st trimester. I had a non-alcoholic beer on our "baby-moon"....but, the one time I went to a bar in the city when I was about 7 months pregnant I felt totally awkward...couldn't wait to get home.

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
Its going to be hard. I pssed up plans to go out tonight because I would be bored. I am going to a club/bar tomorrow and dreading it. But hey I can have fun in a paperbag so I can deal for the night. But oh how I would love a frozen margarita.

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
It will be much harder as the weather gets warmer and my friends want to go places to have a drink outside. I usually get seltzer and a splash of cranberry and pineapple juice (my new obsession).

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
My DH and I were also big drinkers and enjoyed the wine. We still go out, and I just order a cranberry and tonic water, or something else non-alcoholic. It is tough though when I'm the only sober one in the group. I joke around that now DH drinks for the both of us. We don't have to flip a coin anymore about who's the Designated Driver that night .

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
DH is not a drinker but I am. I often drink a lot of wine at family functions and someone mentioned that he has to look for a new Wine Partner.
In the summer, I plan to have virgin margarita without the salt and sit by the pool.
To me, it is boring going to bars if you don't drink. There better be live music if I am not going to be drinking!

I play pool in a league every week. So every week I was in a bar. Everyone understood and I had cranberry juice with seltzer or a frozen non-alcoholic something or other.

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
I lived on frozen drinks that were too fattening before I got pregnant like Pina Coladas and Virgin Daquaris. I usually would never have those. Or I would buy fancy sodas at Trader Joe's to bring to parties.
I admit I am dreading getting pregnant again and missing my drinks- I am such an alcoholic.

Re: For those of you that drank before pregnancy
I didn't crave any alcohol when I was pregnant. I am not a big drinker at all but once in a while I crave either wine or a Bloody Mary.
