Some of them are alright but others are just bizzare! Almost like poking fun at it. So strange...

I didn't see it as poking fun at it, more light trying to make light of it. I could be wrong, I didn't find any of them offensive though. JMO.

As long as the people wearing it are the ones with Autism (or their families), I don't see a problem with it. Many times, humor is the only way to deal with things. If they are OK with joking about what is going on, then I'm OK with it too.
I think many of them are pretty cute...
I often joke around about my diabetes. It's not going away any time soon, so I can either joke about it, or be upset about it. I personally chose the humor route most of the time....

Maybe they're trying to embrace it, take back the control? I hope

i honestly didn't know what to think! like i said, it takes a LOT to offend me, but i can't imagine having my child wear this.
now, if i were to have a child with autism, my opinion might change. it's just that i can't tell now how i would react, never having been in "their" shoes. KWIM?

I think they are meant to promote awareness. My cousin has brain cancer with an inoperable tumor and she has a t-shirt that says "I have a brain tumor, what's your excuse?" It's from this book that my cousin told me helped her so much: http://www.amazon.com/Brain-Surgery-Whats-Your-Excuse/

I'm pretty sure most of these things are created by customers, so they probably made them for their own children

oh that is cool! see i think this is why the shirts struck me as odd - because i have no experience with autism. if i did, i am sure i would think differently.

i'm on the fence.
i guess it's because i am not in their shoes.
but... like everything else in life, you can laugh at it or it can make you cry.
if the family chooses to laugh, more power to them.
