Sneaky Mortgage Company
Today my dad got a small purple envelope in the mail that said Anthony Lastname. It looked like a card envelope and it was handwritten with regular postage on it.
Inside was a photocopied newspaper article and it had a yellow sticky note on it that says "Anthony, Check this out!!! -J"
Now, my dad is Antonino and NO ONE calls him Anthony so I knew I thought it was strange. The article was one of those advertisements from the newspaper that tries to look like an article. It was an ad for a mortgage company and refinancing!
I was so annoyed! I am sorry but an elderly person could get confused and think that someone was genuinely looking out for them instead of realizing that it was some stupid marketing ploy!

Some direct marketers are evil. NO reputable company would ever pull something like this. It's a liability for the exact reason you mentioned.

YES! and that is what it said - my dad threw it out after I read it once, so I forgot what it said exactly.
Thanks for the name! I am going to look it up and see if they can get into any kind of trouble for it - I doubt it, but I just want to let them know how annoyed it made me!

i've received those too.. i hate it but i haven't been able to track down where they came from in order to contact them and read them out..
please share with the board any info you find.. i think that kind of marketing should be stopped also..

I got ones of those to at my office with my bosses name, and no one sends him stuff like that at work, everyone would know his homes address, but I did think for a second, then realized it had to be a scam.. I think its crap that they are doing that, old people with any financial issues could totally be taken by them.
