Re: Spin off to plus size...
I was thinking that when I saw her, I guess in modeling world you are considered plus size if you are not size 0 and don't look like you haven't had anything to eat for weeks

Re: Spin off to plus size...
Isn't a plus size over a 14/16? She actually looks bigger than a size 10 to me, but not necessarily plus size...I need to see more photos of her....

Re: Spin off to plus size...
I thought this was interesting- from the Tyra Banks Show
Requirements Can Include:
Between 5'8" and 6'0" 5'9" is pretty much minimum for larger markets though Wilhelmina in NYC does represent a few girls who are 5'7" and 5'8".
Size 12, 14, 16 Sizes 10 and 18/20 are also used, but are not as common.
Toned You may be a "plus size," but you may have to be in shape if you model swimwear, lingerie or fitness gear.
Proportionate You should be in proportion. Your bust, waist and hips should be about ten inches apart in size (i.e. 42-32-42) or very close. In addition, the shorter you are, the smaller your size should be. Someone who is 5'8" would be expected to wear a smaller size (12/14) than a taller model. It is all about length and proportion

I agree she looks bigger than me and I'm unfortunately in size 12 pants.
I also thought plus size was 16/18 but the way sizes change now who knows.
I remember when I was 100lbs wet in my 20's and the smallest size was Juniors 5 sometimes 3, and 6 was the smallest ladies/non-Junior size. I used to have to buy shorts in the Big Boys dept.

Re: Spin off to plus size...
They use size 0 models to advertize clothes that women wearing 6, 8, 10, etc would wear, so they use size 12 models to advertize the clothes size 18, 20, etc women would be wearing.
I guess someone thinks it makes the clothes look better.
Unfortunatley, I think (at least on ANTM) that you either fit ito the samples (size 0, 2) or you are plus sized. It doesn't really leave much room for the middle range. A size 6 would be too small for one & too big for the other, but in real life, would probably look great.
One season they told one girl that she either needed to lose or gain weight to be one or the other, but she was elimated early anyway.

I've never been that small, but I used to help my best friend shop for jeans in Kids R Us, when we were in HS b/c size 00 & 0 weren't around.
The "women's departmet" in departmentstores was always 16 & up, when I was younger (and my grandma was heavier).
Now,I receive some plus size catalogs & some start at 12, I believe Lane Bryant starts at 14, but most regular stores carry up to 14, and some have 16s. I am a 14 or 16, and I shop in the Ann Taylor Loft, New York & Company, Macy's (misses)

Goes to show what a difference outfits can make. She looks awesome in the pencil skirt not so good in the short shorts and punk look.
