HELP! Will Best Buy configure my tv for me??
When we got home tonight & put on the tv, it did not work..the tv has power, but somehow the directtv and tv were not connected....or configures or something
DH and I have been having a screaming match since around 8 PM about this.
WIll Best Buy or Panasonic or SOMEONE walk us thru how to fix this????????

did you read the manual?
we are talking about hooking up anywhere from 1 wire to 5 wires
then maybe setting the resolution is another story but you will still see something...
what is on the screen now and how is the box hooked up to the tv? Cable, Component, HDMI??
edit..
after thinking about it, maybe you don't have a sat signal....
did something get unplugged for sure?

Yeah, read it...we are both technology illiterate. the screen is just blue....and when we turn it on, in the top corner says HDMI 1
then is says channel not available
the thing is DH tried doing all kind of crap, so I really, have no idea where we are at right now.

Well, the tv in our other room works fine. Its the HD box that does not seem to be working..like if I press guide or antyhing like that on the remote, nothing comes up on the tv whatsoever.

Is the HDMI wire plugged in to the input on the TV (on the back) AND is that HDMI wire plugged into the Direct TV box?
HDMI wire is typically a black cable and then ends look similar to a USB (for your computer) plug (rectangleish)

Yeah...
the lady was walking me thru it then she was thinking it wa the tv so she tried getting us to do some other things & then she just hung up on me

Is the HDMI wire plugged in to the input on the TV AND is that HDMI wire plugged into the Direct TV box?
I will have to check. However, DH is now in the living room on the couch because he is not talking to me. and if I go in there, he will just say some more nasty thins to me.

well, i'm not staying up much later so I won't be able to help you
make sure the cable is pushed in all the way on the back of the TV (Make sure its plugged into HDMI1)
Make sure its pushed in all the way on the back on the Direct TV in HDMI spot
Prehaps you pushed a resolution mode, try going into the menu and setting resolution (720p, or 1080i)

From the Directv receiver there should be no other cables hooked up only the HDMI cable to the HDMI input on the TV... If there's a few HDMI inputs on the TV connect it to number 1. Some receivers you have to go to the settings to change it from component to HDMI. And on the TV settings to HDMI 1.
