how much does it cost?
One cycle of IVF?
I'm trying to figure out how many cycles my insurance will cover.
They put a dollar amount on what they cover and I'm curious.
thanks

Re: how much does it cost?
I don't know. My insurance covers $10,000 lifetime. I was told by Oxford and LIIVF that that will just cover 1 cycle. Others have told me that it will cover more than that. So...

Re: how much does it cost?
My last cycle was over $12,000. I now have insurance and have a $5,000 cap per try so I was worried. I called the billing office at LI IVF and they said that the insurance companies have contracted rates with them so the cycle cost is not the same for the insurance company as it would be for me paying out of pocket! She said that the $5,000 would more than cover my IVF cycle with ICSI and assisted hatching!

Re: how much does it cost?
My last cycle with ICSI and Assisted Hatching the total billed to my insurance was $9800, total paid by my insurance was $7300, the total I had to pay out of pocket was $1500, but it was really just $1075 since my insurance actually paid for the Assisted Hatching and we had pre-paid that prior to our cycle.

really? that's great. Both REs that I am consulting with take my insurance. I hope it's the same thing. I know for my other docs who take my insurance, that's how it works.
Now, if I choose to go to an RE who doesn't take any insurance, then I guess I'm submitting the whole thing for the entire real cost.

Re: how much does it cost?
I also have 90% co-insurance for in network and 70% co-insurance for out of network.
My insurance covers $12K lifetime for IF and $10K for meds.
I know either way I'm going to pay a few thousand for these treatments if need be.
I'm hoping IUIs work of course but I'm not hearing great stats at my age for this..something like 4% success?
Makes me think I should go right to IVF and not waste time or money.
I'm not getting any younger and I'm kicking myself big time for waiting so long. I know I wasn't really ready, but when are you really ready?

Totally agree, they do take contracted rates. Which actually annoys me...because someone who self pays should be getting the lowest contracted rate they accept. If they are willing to do IVF on someone who's insurance pays 5K, they should be willing to accept that rate from someone paying out of pocket, KWIM?
Sorry, totally ranted off topic. I think LI IVF charged my insurance company around 7K for retrieval, transfer and 100% ICSI.
Good luck

you bring up a good point. I guess in network providers get the marketing from the insurance company and the referrals so they discount subscribers.
It isn't fair.

Re: how much does it cost?
My insurance covers 75% of all costs for 3 fresh cycles.
For this cycle I paid NSUH $4631.25 plus a $1200 facility fee that my insurance won't cover (for use of the faciliities for the ER and transfer, I was told).
The 4631.25 includes all sonos, copays, doctors fee, assisted hatching (which they told me they are going to, freezing of the sperm, and embroyo's etc).

Re: how much does it cost?
I paid $9250 out of pocket. Plus $500 for anasthesia. Maybe another $700 in co pays and various other things.
I think 12K would cover you for at least two cycles. Meds come out of your prescription plan usually. One helpful thinbg you can do is go on Serono's website. They have something called Fertility Lifelines an dthey will call your insurance for you and find out exactly what is and isn't covered. If you haven't chosen a Dr yet this is a great thing.

that's a huge number. You could probably try more than 3 times with that. Good luck.
I need your insurance.
