I don't normally post here, but I need your help.
I have a request to ask of anyone for whom this is at all convenient.
I just found out this morning that the husband of a dear friend is at Sloan Kettering for treatment. All anyone can really do for his cause to help is to Donate Blood at S-K.
Why S-K? Why not the Red Cross? Because Sloan Kettering does not accept blood from outside its doors. It maintains its own blood bank, and doesn't have any exchange programs with any other banks.
Therefore, I'm asking anyone who can to please go donate blood at Sloan Kettering. You'll need to make an appointment to do so, and the number is 212-639-7648.
I myself will be going at my soonest convenience (hopefully this Sunday, and if not the following Saturday).

I am so sorry! That is a great hospital though. DH used to work there. He is a radiation therapist.

so sorry to hear this. Sloan Kettering is a top hospital. Your friend is in the best hands. I wish I could donate blood- I was told not to because I am pregnant. But if he still needs blood in May, let me know!

I don't know what Blood Type Darryl is, but I was dumbfounded just to know that S-K doesn't use blood donated elsewhere. I mean, when you think of blood donation, the first thing you think of is the Red Cross, right? I think it's just a good thing to get the word out that they only take donations made there.
I don't know anything about the Commack Center, but donating blood in itself is always a good thing.
