you need the E train if you want something that goes thru jamaica. the A train will take you to Far Rockaway.

yup, i know - i work in far rockaway. i was pondering training it to work but i would have to leave my house CRAZY early if i wanted to take the LIRR straight to far rock. i was trying to see if i could catch the A from jamaica to far rock.
eta- i would have to leave my house by 3:30 am to get to work in time, but would have 45min to kill once i got there. likewise coming home, i'd get off of work at 3:45, not get a train until 4:30 and wouldn't walk into my house untl close to 7pm. so to save gas $$ and take the train, i'd be out of my house like 16 hours as opposed to 12. no freakin way.

thank you... but yeah, way too much transferring and too long of a commute. gas prices are out of control as we all know, and i was trying to ease my 60mile commute, filling my truck every other day and save money - esp since i ride the train for free... but adding an extra 3 hoursd AT LEAST to my commute just ain't worth it.

Re: anyone familiar with the "A" train (subway)?
Try this.
At Jamacia take the AIRTRAIN going towards JFK. Take it to the Howard Beach exit.
Then catch the A train there.
Should be quicker then going through Manhattan, but will cost more in additional train fares.
