I love my Dr. but I think he's crazy!!
I had another appt. today and he told me I shouldnt gain more than 15 lbs!!!
I dont know if that is possible!!
Has anyone else been told this?

yes, i was told between 15-25. i am already plus size so i am sure this is why in my case

well, he said it is because im small and short and he said i really shouldnt gain more than that since im short and can't really "carry" extra weight
im normally a 6 - 6 petite

oh yeah that makes sense since your frame is so small! its just a guide though - just do your best!

that makes sense - it's not a matter of getting "fat" - it's that your body and joints won't be able to handle that much extra weight. 15lbs is totally doable and you probably won't have a hard time gaining just that over 9 months.

im petite and was a size4-6 before being preggo... I have gained 32 lbs so far... no way could i have stayed to only 15lbs... my dr told me im a bit ahead on the chart, but that is about it... im doing the best i can- it isnt like im sitting down with a bag of oreos every night either... i agree with you... your dr is crazy!

Well I started out at size 2, 112 lbs. I was told to gain between 25-35 lbs. So far I am up to 54 lbs. Good luck to you trying to only gain 15 lbs!

They say the more you weigh before getting PG, the less you should gain while you are PG. So far, I am at about 15 pounds up and have not been told that it is excessive. I was considered normal weight for my height pre-pregnancy.

It sounds like we're about the same size. I gained 30 lbs with both pregnancies and my Dr. said that was fine.

Pre- pregnancy I was a size 0 or 2 - petite frame and I was told to gain within 25-30 and so far i'm up 24lbs at 8 months.
15lbs is very hard!!!

he is also a health nut
my sister is / was a size 2
she just had DS #3 and she gained about 30-35 with each son
(then lost it) so she is back down to a 4 - i hate her!!!! LOL

I think the warning comes because he doesn't want you to have a really large baby but it isn't always the case. I was a size 1/2, I'm 5'3" and I gained 55lbs during pg and my daughter was 7.11lbs

I am over weight and my doctor only wanted me to gain 15-20 pounds with both pregnancies. It is totally possible IMO if you are strict about what you eat. Don't get too crazy with eating for 2. A lot of people overeat thinking they need to eat for 2 but you actually only need to eat about an extra 300 calories a day.

but he said not to get caught up in the "hunger" and not to feed into it
