Warranty for laptops
does a laptop warranty cover new a new battery?

You'd need to check with your manufacturer for the type of warranty you bought.
Some extended warranties at some manufacturers would - while a basic warranty would not.

DH is almost positive that it does NOT cover it b/c it is "expected" to die - batteries are not expected to last for long periods of time or for the life of the computer. Most warranties cover manufacturer's defects on the laptop itself so if the battery started leaking they would cover that- but if the battery won't hold a charge anymore they won't consider that something they will cover/replace.
He worked at Best Buy during college and is pretty sure that this is the way it is for batteries with laptops but you never know - it is worth a call to the company to check and make sure.

ETA: this is if it is a basic warranty but I guess if you got the really high-end warranty you never know - those could cover much more.

i didnt buy an extended warrenty for mine (hp) and i got my motherboard AND new battery.. two separate things... two separate times.. a year later ...
so id try.. cant' hurt right?
