Pregnant SAHMs

What are you doing about childcare for your older one when you are on the hospital giving birth? I guess DH will stay home from work but I want him in the hospital with me as much as possible! DS will not be able to stay in the hospital the entire time. He will be bored out of his mind (he will be just 2 yo)!

Re: Pregnant SAHMs

Visiting Hours in my hospital were DH's 10-10 siblings and grandparents 3-5, then everyone else 6:30-8:30. So my DH came up at 10 and my MIL watched Julia in the morning for us then came up with Julia at 3, worked out well for us.

Re: Pregnant SAHMs

Below are the hours at my hospital. My mom will want to be at the hospital with me and my MIL is not able to pick up DS (she is not allowed to lift anything above 15 lbs due to heart problems)

Maternity Unit-3300 and 3700

Husbands or significant others may visit from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. All others may visit from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Two visitors in addition to siblings, father/significant other are permitted to visit at one time. Visitors other than siblings must be 12 years of age or older.

Maternal Child Pavilion-6100

Husbands or significant others may visit at anytime and all others may visit from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. In addition to the father/significant other, six other visitors are permitted at one time. Visitors other than siblings must be 12 years of age or older.

Melissa - who watched Julia while you delivered? Was it your MIL?

Re: Pregnant SAHMs

My SIL lives about 2 blocks away. She will watch the 2 older ones for me. She was amazing with my last pregnancy, she took DD everytime I was admitted to the hospital, which was 3 times.

Re: Pregnant SAHMs

DD will probably split her time between my moms and my SIL's.

The day I delivered my mom watched DS. She brought DS to the hospital and then my SIL took him for 2 nights and 1 day. The day I was dscharged my DH went to pick DS up from my SIL and then the 4 of us went home.

Re: Pregnant SAHMs

not a SAHM, but Ella's generally with me or Al most days.

I plan on having her stay with my mom. They recently changed general visiting hours at Winthrop from 1-8pm. So I figure she'll be at the hospital some of the time.

they changed the hours?
do they still take the baby to the nursery during visiting hours?

Re: Pregnant SAHMs

this time around the IL will come before hand to help care for DD & DS. Last time, DD stayed over with friends for 2 nights (the night before induction and the night of) and I came home after 24 hrs

I think the baby is in the room with the visitors now, until 6pm. Then they go to the nursery.
