Re: BBQ gift basket...
BBQ sauces and spices A "man's" apron (DH has one that says "King of the Grill") Grill chips/wood boards A grill light
You can find a bunch of stuff in the seasonal sections of LNT and BB&B right now (stuff that you never realize you really, really need until you go there with my DH and he makes a case for why it will make bbq'ing so much easier!)

Re: BBQ gift basket...
Oh and just remembered, my SIL bought DH a thing called a "Grill Slinger" a couple years ago for his birthday - its basically a belt with holsters for tongs, etc. It's a bit silly and probably too much $$ for a gag gift, but its just another thought (can you tell my DH is obsessed with his grill?)
ETA: OK, so it was more expensive than I even remembered it being: Grill Slinger $99!!?!?!
