DH is NOT going to be happy!!
DH is away on business this week. Before he left last night, he moved his *beloved* car up to the end of the driveway for fear that our gutters would fall off in the rain and wind (our gutters are barely attached to the house- we're getting them re-done next month).
Little did he know that he did more harm than good by doing this. The wind blew 4 out of 6 of our patio chairs off the deck - one of them must have slammed into his car door. There's now 2 deeeeeep scratches and pretty good-sized dents.
Do I break the news to him tonight or wait until he gets home? There's nothing he can do about it now, so no sense in telling him and getting him riled up, right?

See now I would tend to agree with this and tell him as soon as possible for a couple of reasons:
1) I can't keep secrets to save my life.
2) I already know he is going to be upset about the car... I don't want him also being mad at me for not telling him when it happened.
Who knows, if you tell him now, maybe he won't be as crazy about it when he gest home... he will have had some time to let it sink in and cool off a bit.

I agree
Both my hubby and I are huge car lovers. I'd be very upset (as would he) if it waited till I got home. I'd leave instructions for him (or he for me) get this taken care of. I could freak if I came home to that 
What kind of car, if I can ask.

My DH travels a lot so I know the optimum time to break bad news...don't do it. He is already stressed enough on buisness so move the chairs back where they were and pretend you have no clue. If you tell him while he is away he will say, "I am xxx miles away, what do you want me to do about it." If you wait until he is home then he will say, "Why didn't you tell me?"
Save yourself the trouble and move the chairs back and pretend you had no idea when he notices the scratch...2 weeks later.

Wait until he is on his way home so you don't have to see or feel the brunt of it. by the time he gets home the initial shock and anger is worn down a little

It's a Mini S. 
I'm going to tell him tonight. He's not coming home until Sunday and I can't wait that long. I would take it to get fixed, but it's a stick and he never taught me how to drive it. I figured that he'd be mad at me for not telling him, and he'll settle down by the time he gets home.
I know that there are a million worse things that could have happened, but I find it so bizarre that he moved it to prevent damage.
