Question..

What will you leave your baby unattended in? Meaning the swing, bouncy seat, car seat, etc.

When I say unattended I meant not in the room with them staringat them- like what will you leave them in while you are cleaning in another room maybe, or sleeping.

Re: Question..

I know you aren't supposed to leave them alone, but when she was really small and not moving too much I left her alone in the swing or bouncy. Once she started moving more I would bring the bouncy into the doorway of whatever room I was cleaning and talk to her while I did it.

I will still leave her alone in the exersaucer so that I can get the laundry into the machine or move it to the dryer or whatever. She prefers to be moving, so she doesn't tolerate being in there for too long a time, but it's working out well for us.

Re: Question..

nothing. I'm a neurotic mommy. Even when he's in the crib I'll only leave him when I have the monitor.

Re: Question..

I've left both of mine in all of the above, alone. My house is pretty small so it's easy for me to hear and check back in with them. I don't know, I couldn't imagine sitting and staring all day long, especially now that I have a toddler. Chat Icon IMHO, it's good to let kids learn how to entertain themselves. My daugter since birth has always sat and entertained herself for long lengths of time.

Re: Question..

Now that he's mobile, I leave him strapped in his highchair or put him in his exasaucer when I need to leave the room.

When he was smaller, I'd leave him in his swing if I needed to go into the kitchen to start dinner.

I agree with Nancy, I let Julia play in her playpen, exersaucer, and swing alone. If I just stared at her all day nothing would get done! I know shes safe when shes playing in them. Chat Icon

Re: Question..

I leave her in the the bouncy seat and she always sleeps upstairs in her crib alone during the day. She really doesn't love the swing, so that's not an issue. Because she's not rolling yet, I will also leave her on the floor on her playmat. I can hear her even when I'm upstairs, but if I'm downstairs doing laundry, it's loud, so I'll bring the monitor with me.

Same here I live in an apartment and she can't go far I keep the bathroom door shut and have a lick on my counter that has all my cleaning supplies in it and she entertains herself

Re: Question..

He's still not very mobile so I leave him in all of the above as long as he is strapped in. I would go crazy if I had to sit there and watch him constantlyChat Icon .

Re: Question..

For a newborn, I'd say:
swing
car seat (although I didn't have them in their car seat much)
floor
bed (surrounded by a pillow)
Bouncy seat

Once they can flip over:
Swing
car seat
floor
Bouncy Seat - but only the one I had since it was so deep and they couldn't possibly get that over - otherwise I would not leave them in a bouncy seat.
Exersaucer.

Now that they're older - apparently, they can't be left alone which is why that video monitor comes in so handy.

Re: Question..

I've left him alone in all of the above. I feel like the swing is the safest, especially when he was smaller and didn't move that much. I've also left him unattended in the Baby Einstein on the floor.

I can't leave him unattended in the Exersaucer though. He gets tired of it quick and fusses to be taken out.

I can imagine that when they're toddlers, you can't take your eyes off them for a second unless they are sleeping in the crib!! Not looking forward to that!

Re: Question..

He pretty much naps in his crib and I leave him in his room, and usually clean or take a shower (the monitor is on of course)

The bouncy...or the floor, under his elmo toy....

SOMETIMES ill put the swin in the bathroom while I shower...(if you even wanna consider that him being alone) He really has a short attention span for the swing...so I rarely do that!

Re: Question..

I leave her in the bouncy but I can see and hear her from the kitchen. If she liked the swing I would leave her in that. Probably the car seat too.
I would constantly be checking on her though.
