If you are new to massages or haven't had one in a while, I would recommend a Swedish massage...deep tissue might leave you sore if you haven't had a massage in a while or you're new to it..other people I know swear by the hot stone, and I think that one's pretty user friendly as well..ENJOY and RELAX..congrats on the certificate...best of health in using it!!

A regular Swedish Massage is the best to start with. That way he can see what it is. Although it's not a deep tissue he could always ask for a lighter or firmer pressure.

Swedish is the most basic and if there is a certain part of the body you want to focus on, just tell them.

With the sweedish are you dressed or do you have to wear a towl? This is all new to me, the only thing I ever had at a spa was my toes and nails done. Also do they only massage your back?

They do your entire back, arms, legs, feet, hands, head and neck. You wear a robe into the room and then you get under the sheets on the massage bed.

I also think you should go for a swedish first. Chat Icon

Enjoy it!

Hot Stone or Sweedish Massage

as one of the previous posters noted, a Deep Tissue massage is a stronger massage really working into your muscles and less relaxing.

Go with a sweedish massage, my first ever massage was deep tissue and I was sore for 2 weeks ! -

I also had NO idea I had to get undreseed and under the sheet - Chat Icon

And the massuse (sp?) was SO SO SO gorgeous, I was totally mortified !Chat Icon

Re: Those that have gone to a spa

Start w/a Swedish massage....it's relaxing and feels awsome...Most spas have you undress to what you feel comfortable in and put a robe on. Where I go, in MI, they start w/you on your back..they do face, scalp, shoulders, arms, legs and then flip you...they then do feet, back of legs, and back of arms and end w/back and neck. It is AWSOME!!! If you have a certain area you need more more on just tell them and they will do that area more. Ie: my neck and upper back are always a mess so they focuse more on that area then my arms....You will NOT regret it!

If you don't ask for anything "different", the massage will be for a full body massage. You may start on your back or on your stomach depending on the massage therapist.

In a spa, you usually wear a robe. You will remove the robe before you go in the bed. You can keep your panties or remove them. It's up to your comfort level. In any cases you will be covered at all times.

I have clients that ask for me to work the whole session on their back, or upper back and feet, etc.... You can make the massage whatever you want it to be really. If you are new to it, let them do a whole body massage and enjoy. Make sure to say something if you find the pressure too light or too deep. This is supposed to be enjoyable so do speak up! Don't "take it" and leave feeling you hate massages.
