Craigslist Scam
So I'm looking for an apartment in Long Island in the Nassau area. Mind you I've been looking for over a month now and I see this ad posted for a house in Levittown for rent, three bedroom, with a pool, etc...... for $1200. Already I know it's a scam, I send the guy an e-mail just to catch him out there and sure enough he responds with this whole nigerian thing where I send him the money and he sends me the keys. I sent him an e-mail riipping him a new one, he's since removed the post but I printed it out. Should I notify the owners of the house? And who else can I call to report him?

Re: Craigslist Scam
Yes! Try to notify the rightful homeowner. There was a story on the News about a guy actually getting $$ sent to him for places he didn't own AND were already lived in

Re: Craigslist Scam
Yes you should notify them that's horrible! My friend got scammed too but he is actually renting an apartment and was caught up in a similar scam by the "renter"

Re: Craigslist Scam
The problem is i can't find a phone number for the owners. I'm actualy considering just taking a drive over there and giving them the email he sent me and the ad. That's just so disgusting that someone would do that. It makes me so angry.

Re: Craigslist Scam
Something like that happened to me when I was looking for a place on Craigslist. The listing was also a house, rent was so cheap, it seemed too good to be true. Guy writes me back says the deal is this, its his house, but he lives "oversees" for business. The rent is so cheap because he wants me to "watch" his house for him and all I would have to do is funnel money through my bank account for his business purposes....

Re: Craigslist Scam
I found a similiar listing on Craiglist, also telling me that I need to wire him money because he lives in London.
