Does anyone belong to Linked In?
Someone sent me an invite to join that I used to work with - what is it? Is it like a professional Face Book?

I am. It's a professional networking site. It is similar to facebook in that it shows you who you are connected to through others, and allows you to see where people work, their work histories, etc.

Yeah, its a professional networking site. You can post an online resume, have co-workers recommend your work and vice versa.
I'm on it too.

I'm on it.... I'm in advertising and it's a great way to keep in touch with all the people that I've worked with - designers, freelancers, developers, etc....
I just got a job offer through linkedIn. A HR person from another agency saw my profile and asked to be introduced to me through 2 connections. 3 weeks later I have a decent job offer that I'm considering.

I'm on linked in too. mostly for professional networking and especially since i'm a SAHM now, i want to keep in touch with my network cause I am DEF going back to work someday

I recently cancelled my account because I had an internal employee seek me out to ask questions about my job - like they were looking to do the same thing but when I read further it made me uncomfortable - seemed like they were trying to get confidential info out of me.
That was enough for me. But the recruiters here use it.
