brushing puppy teeth

We just started brushing Bailey's teeth and (as usual) I feel like I don't know what I'm doing. Any tips?

We're having a little trouble with getting him to open his mouth, etc. Any advise is welcome!

TIA

It's very important that you are using doggie toothpaste and not human toothpaste. Usually they like the way it tastes so you can entice them by letting him lick it first. They he will see it's not so bad. Good lucK!

Def try to lift the gums on the side so you don't have to necessarily open the puppies mouth right away, let them taste it and brush the teeth that way. It is tough at first, but after a while they get used to it and it gets easier.

Hi all,

Thanks! We have the doggie toothpaste and he definitely likes it. It's kinda hard to get his teeth b/c he's so busy licking the toothpaste - that's actually the issue. I kinda get a swipe in, but it's not as thorough as I'd like.

We've just started brushing his teeth, so it's only been twice that we've tried. I just figured I'd see if any one had any tips.

Thanks again.

I find that it just takes time for them to get used to it... I don't think they ever like it. But you are doing the right thing by doing it!
