Being on hold stinks...

DH and I went to church this morning, then went out for lunch. After lunch we went to see my neice and nephew, since DH hadn't gotten to see them in a few weeks, and they're only out here on the weekends.
I'm still really sore in my stomach and having really bad sharp shooting pains. My neice jumped on me and I asked her to please be careful, b/c my belly is bothering me...
THIS IS HER RESPONSE (she'll be 5 at the end of this month).
"I feel it."
(me)- you feel what?
"The baby"
(me)-what baby?
"The baby in your belly"
(me) - Em, there is no baby in my belly.
"Why not???"
(me- who at this point just lost it and though I had tears, did my best not to get hysterical)- I don't know why sweetie.
Then she kept asking me if stuff that I brought over was for her cousins to use--- her only cousins so far are 10-15 years older than her and she only sees them 1-2 times a year.

It's just been such a weird day--- I still have heartburn, for days now. And severe lower back pain- and my stomach just feels... well, different... literally, like to touch different- kind of lumpy. If my IUI hadn't been cancelled, I would've sworn by now that I was PG and Emma's conversation w/ me would've triggered me to go and test.
IF STINKS!!!!!

Thanks everyone. It's just so weird- I've NEVER even mentioned TTC in front of her--- she always looks at DH and I as though we're just big kids, and adores playing w/ us more than anyone else in our family. So it just really caught me off guard that she would be thinking that I'd have a baby in my belly.

ah well....guess she gets it at 5 that you are trying. They hear everything. Well at least she is hopeful. My 6 year old niece told my parents that I'm too old to have kids. Great...where'd she get that from?

And then my nephew (who turned 10 yesterday). When his Grandfather asked if we were having kids (no relation to us), my nephew told him we were doing it wrong. And then my BIL asked him what were we doing wrong and did he know how it was done. And he said yes (he's a know it all, and he usually does know it all...total genius). So, he said, "its like when you kiss and your saliva gets all mixed together and then you form a baby". To the relief of his parents b/c when he was 6 he told them he was having sex at age 10 (he does have a steady GF who he's in love with). So there we have it, we're all kissing wrong. LOL..

I'm sorry that she upset you. It's a great age where you can say anything and however it comes out is how it comes out.

Wouldnt it be nice to be that little again and think the world is an easy place...Maybe she can see the near future (they do say children have a sense that us big people don't have) I hope you feel better soon !
