Another ? for the May Mommies-to-be...
I am just over 38 weeks and over the past few days I noticed a significant decrease in movement. There still is some movement, just not as much or as strong as before. And I can make him move by pushing on his butt. Is this normal for the end of a pregnancy or should I be worried?

Movement slows down toward the end because they run out of room..my dr told me to drink something with caffeine and lay on my left side, you should get some good movement, if not and you are worried call your doctor.

Julie, My OB told me to expect a decrease in movement as his head gets "engaged" which it was at my last week appt. He's got less room to move around significantly except for small adjustments here and there. She said I still should feel SOME movement but not to expect the rolls and tumbles that he's been doing the last 4-6 weeks.

When I drink juices or caffeine and lay down he moves, but not the same as before. I think its because he is running out of room. I have an appointment on Tuiesday so I will mention it to the midwife then.

movement did slow down for me at the end, but when I told my OB about it he had me in for a sonogram just to be sure all was okay.

That's pretty normal - there's not that much room in there anymore, like the other posters said. As long as you can feel something, sometimes, I think you're ok. I can't believe you're 38 weeks already!!

1000% normal!!!
Your little guy is really smoothed in there now and doesn't really have a ton of room to move. This is also the time that I really start to see things popping out too. For example today mystery baby was kicking away and you could see the foot going up and down out of my stomach, but that was the biggest amount of movement for the day. Have no worries!

Totally normal! As DS moves lower getting ready to be born he wont have the room to move.
My DS never "engaged" and even at 9lb 14oz he had plenty of room to move! I never felt a decrease in movement infact as I was getting prepped for my c-section he was still kicking away...little did he know what was about to happen
If I were you I would be excited, the end is nearing and soon you will have your DS in your arms!
