Please help...I need some reassurance

I had my first prenatal visit on wed thinking I was 8 weeks pregnant and I am only 6 weeks. They did an internal u/s and they saw that the baby had a very slow heartbeat and the sono tech basically set me up for a miscarriage. I went back today for another read b/c I was so upset and a different tech saw NO heartbeat. I am so worried, has anyone had no hertbeat at 6weeks and then had a positive experience?

Re: Please help...I need some reassurance

Did they send you for blood to check your HcG levels?

When i went for my first internal I thought I was 7 weeks and the sono showed me at 6 weeks. Their was a heartbeat and it was 138 BPM. They sent me for blood work as well. I had to go for 2 draws within 48 hours of each other.

Everything worked out fine for me. When I went for my detailed u/s on April 10 the sono showed me to be right on target from my original thought of when I had the internal and said I was 7 weeks. The doctor said the first internal their could have been a lot of variables that caused it to show 6 weeks. Things like the tech couldnt get a good reading, maybe the angle was bad, etc...

Did they say the bloodwork wasn't ready yet, thats a while for bloodwork? HCG usually comes back pretty quickly!

Re: Please help...I need some reassurance

I was 6 weeks when i started bleeding, so i went to the ER where they set me up for an internal. After 10 minutes of not being able to hear a heartbeat, they told me I had miscarried and were about to set me up for a D&C. I freaked out and pleaded with them to try again... they did, and after another 5 minutes or so of trying they found it. I am now 16 weeks and everything is going great with the baby. Don't get discouraged so quick, remember your baby is the size of a pin head at the moment and it might just be hard for them to hear. Wait for those bloodwork results, which hopefully you get in the next day or so. I'll be thinking about you... keep us updated!

Re: Please help...I need some reassurance

So many times Drs wont see you before 9 weeks or so bc sometimes its hard to detect a heartbeat. So hopefully that is the case with you. With my younger son I happened to have an OB appt for a regular check up and something in my gut told me I was pg, they could barely even tell, only by the blood test, certainly not with a sono. I was 5 weeks at the time. Even the follow up was iffy on my #'s but all ended up fine. I will say a prayer for you that all is OK.

I was 5w6d at my first ultrasound and they didn't find a heartbeat. The next two weeks until my 8 week ultrasound were tough.
