I'm bawling my eyes out- I failed the three hour test
I am so upset. Apparently my fasting sugar and third hour test was normal but my first hour was above normal and my second hour level failed by two points (I needed a 155 and I got a 157).
I am so worried now that maybe something is wrong with the baby. I have always been a worrier throughout this whole pregnancy and now I feel so much worse and guilty for indulging in desserts and stuff when it may have been causing the baby harm....
I now have to set up meetings with an endocrinologist, dietician and the nurse to show me how to do the finger prick glucose test four times a day. I feel so overwhelmed and depressed... I did however call everyone I was suppose to and am now awaiting for call backs.
Thanks for listening.

oh no..... try not to stress too much! Definitely don't regret anything you did when you had no idea there could be a problem.... no one is clairvoyant!
finding out you might have a sugar problem is a good thing, because now it will be monitored and things will be just fine with your baby..... the endocrinologist will study things carefully and make sure everything stays fine....

A close friend of mine failed her 3 hour test. She monitored her blood sugar and watched what she ate for the rest of her pregnancy. She is now the mommy of a healthy happy baby. Try not to worry. Your doctors will help you.

Do not freak out! Your baby is fine. I had GD and my DD is perfect. There is nothing you could have done and it has nothing to do with what you ate. Because of your placenta your body is just having trouble processing sugar. Most of the time you can totally control it with diet. Though is sucks to not be able to eat all the ice cream and cookies you want it really isn't the end of the world. If you have an questions you can FM me but don't worry your baby will be fine

Don't freak out - there are many people who develop GD who go thru and have healthy pregnancies. You couldn't do anything to prevent it or change it - but the good news is most people can totally control it thru dietary changes.

Re: I'm bawling my eyes out- I failed the three hour test
If it's any consolation, my BFF failed her glucose test by a small margin as well. She did her finger pricks daily and altered her diet. It was hard at first to cut out all of the pasta and bread but she stuck to it and did great!! Her baby was born 7 lbs. 2 oz. and is the picture of health! You can do it!!

ITA!! I had GD too and felt the same way you do. Everyone told me it would be ok but I was still so stressed and so sad I couldn't eat whatever I wanted when PG. But, after a couple weeks, I got in a really good routine. I learned what I could eat and I controlled my blood sugar really well. My DD was 7lbs 2 oz--average size!! I also was able to have some indulgences (i.e, cheesecake, no sugar added icecream with peanut butter) at times and my sugar stayed within the limit. One benefit of GD is you wont' gain as much weight. I actually lost a few lbs initially. I had a lot less to lose post partum than I would have if I didn't have GD. Youll make it through, I promise. FM if you have any questions about anything!
