How are you dealing with...
.. $$ gifts for baby? Are you opening up a savings acct just for baby? Are you adding it to your own savings?
We're not sure if we want to invest in one of those ING type of accounts for college savings or if we just want a plain old regular savings attached to our checking so we can add to it regularly.
Any ideas?

I think once we start getting $$ gifts (christening, bday, etc.) we will just keep putting it into a separate savings acct. for the baby (probably ING) and then invest it down the road so they will hopefully have some more money set aside for college in the future.

We do plan on opening a 529 account (college account) but it will be for us to contribute to regularly. And if he receives any large monetary gifts for milestones such as Christening, Birthdays, etc.
All other $$ gifts will go into a money market account so it will earn better interest but be liquid and accessible at any time for any reason.

We just opened a savings account for the baby and are planning to add about $100 per week or so. FIgured we would get a head start

We put all of it in their piggy banks. When the banks get full we are going to open an account for each of them.

I didn't think about this. I will ask DH tonite what he thinks! We need to pay off our bills before we start saving for  but I am sure he will get bonds and money and stuff so that stuff is all his!

Hmm. We will have a baby naming ceremony after Ed-lie is born. Gifts are usually given then. All NECESSARY items will have been bought. No shower.

We opened up an ING Account for our 2 children will do the same for this new baby.
MIL also opened up a Trust Fund for each of our children.

I have a savings account for DD. I opened it shortly after she was born. There is not much there, but if it were in my account, it would be gone already
