who are you inviting to christening?

We have a pretty big family and I know my mom wants me to invite some distant relatives, but that's just going to be so many people. We're having the christening this summer, so we're planning on having the party back at our house, hopefully outside after the church. we don't have a huge house or yard, but don't want to rent out a place. I'm thinking of including immediate family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and just a few friends. That's enough as it is!

That sound sperfect -- family and a few friends is really all you will want around you and your little one on their special day. If you have too many people, I think it would just be overwhelming (and expensive!)

That's probably all we will do too, it's just too many people. DH and I both come from huge families. Even with limiting it I anticipate we'll probably have 75-100 people. Chat Icon

Re: who are you inviting to christening?

we invited immediate family and a few close friends and the guest list was over 100 ppl. we had about 60 adults at our house.

IMO, don't invite distant realtives you haven't seen. My mom told me not to invite any oot family that we knew wouldn't come.

We decided we will only do immediate family as it just can get out of hand.

Re: who are you inviting to christening?

I WISH I could just do a small party, we have a huge family and without distant relatives we still had over 120 guest invited 97 came.
with this baby on the way here we go again.
we have no choice but to get a hall.
for DD first bday we invited friends and distant relatives and had over 100 people come. its a nightmare and so is the expense for both!

Re: who are you inviting to christening?

We are inviting immediate family only. After the ceremony we'll take everyone out to a nice dinner (place is still to be determined).

We are looking at about 18 people including DH and I.

Re: who are you inviting to christening?

DH has a huge extended family but we're keeping it just siblings (he's 1 of 7 Chat Icon), their children/spouses, the godparents and their family...close friends and a couple of cousins/aunts/uncles. I'm hoping to keep it under 50. Chat Icon

We had a lot of people at my son's christening. We will not be doing that with the next. We will just be inviting close friends and family and going to a restaurant. It was just way too much.

Re: who are you inviting to christening?

We will probably be 50-70? DH's family is small and it is really both my sides of family and close friends.
Still though will be a lot...Any ideas on places???
