i've been gone from here for 2 wks, need some prayers please-LONG...
i havent been on here for 2 wks, its been a horrible time for dh & me. i last posted back then about being in the ER w/dh who was diagnosed with 2 kidney stones, and the urologist we were referred to offered dh a choice of a surgical procedure to have the stones removed, or to ride it out and see if the 1 stone would pass on its own in a few days. dh decided to try and ride it out, but by the late a.m. the next day, on tues. we were back in the ER with dh doubled over in pain. dh ended up w/a puncture in his kidney from the pressure, and the stone was now impacted in the ureter, and had a slight infection, so the dr had to come and do an emergency surgery that nite to try and disloge and hopefully get the stone. they were able to dislodge it, but not get it out, it was pushed back into the kidney with their scope. they had to put in a stent to help the stone pass on its own. dh had to stay overnite, after in post-op, he was running a fever, and his heart rate was up. the next late afternoon, they let him out, with some antibiotics and pain meds. thurs, by the next nite, we were again back in the ER, with dh again in pain he couldnt take and the pain meds which were strong ones, werent helping at all. the stone wasnt showing on the ct scan anymore, so they think he passed it, but the pain could be from the surgery or stone, what they call renal colic or from the stent. they gave him stone strong anti-inflam. meds, and sent us on our way which was by that time, the next a.m. dh's dr that did the surgery said he wanted us to come on monday, to do a follow up ultrasound. we went last monday, and everything looked ok, so dr took out the stent, and gave him more antibiotics. dh hoped to be in a lot less pain and more comfortable without the stent., but was still getting pain on and off and mostly sleeping. well, by last thurday eve, dh and I were back in the ER, with DH suffering and me helpless, and also by now i came down with a cold, and was worried about my asthma getting out of control again on top of being so stressed out & worried over DH. they said his ct scan was clear, and no infections, so it must just be stent colic, everyone is different and the healing process can be longer for some, and pain more than others. we came home early friday a.m., totally wiped out. his dr called and said he wanted him to rest all weekend, and see him today early a.m. dh felt a lil better yesterday, not alot of pain, but then again it started at 5a.m. we went today and were there for 5 hours, since he ended up sending us for a scan to make sure that there was no blockage or injury to his ureter from the stone or surgery at an imaging place in the same bldg who squeezed us in, but still had to wait, and then go back and wait and see the dr again after the scan. the scan showed no damage, or blockage, thankfully, but as for the pain, dr said there is some inflammation from the stone impacted and/or from the procedure. he said that basically his body will heal on its own, and hopefully he will feel less pain soon, and be back to his normal self. when he feels more comfortable, he will be able to go back to work. he cant go back yet, even the ride in the suv makes him have pain and discomfort. dh & I have been just miserable thru the last 2 wks, and its been really hard. i have gotten so little sleep, and feel run down and i am worried about the baby being affected from all the stress. dh hasnt worked since this started, and is frustrated, he thought he would bounce right back after the procedure. we hope that he is at the end of all this bad stuff, and that he will be feeling better asap. please say some prayers for us! on a brighter note, i just wanted to say i missed u ladies, and reading all the posts! i have alot to catch up on here i am sure! hopefully things will get back to normal soon for us. hope everyone is doing well!
