Those who are not finding out the sex...
What are you doing about a coming home outfit for the hospital? Are you bring both a pink and a blue outfit to the hospital and washing them both even though you won't be using one of them? Or are you just washing and bringing a yellow/green outfit?
It's a no-no to bring an outfit to the hospital that is not washed yet right?
Are we supposed to bring our own plain white onesies for the baby too? And how many?
Anything else we are supposed to bring for baby that they don't provide??? I am so clueless!
TIA!

Re: Those who are not finding out the sex...
I bought a purple outfit and a blue outfit and left them unwashed at home. THen DH washed the right one and brought it to the hospital the day we brought DS home. I just returned the purple one recently.

I am due in May. This is my gender neutral coming home outfit.
Anything that your baby is using should be washed (in a perfume and dye free detergent) before the first use.
Not sure about what the hospital provides, but I was told not to use onesies until the umbilical cord falls off.

Re: Those who are not finding out the sex...
I am going to bring a girl outfit and a boy outfit with me to the hospital and I will have them both washed and ready to go. Whatever outfit I don't need I can hold onto for next time or I'll give it to my friend who is due in December.

I bought some boy outfits, and I took out some of my DD's baby outfits too. I only washed one boy outfit to bring to the hospital and I'm bringing one girl outfit. I'm also bringing a blanket (white one) and a onesie top.
I washed everything in dreft.

I recently bought a girl outfit & a boy outfit. After the baby is born DH will wash the outfit and bring it to the hospital. We will return the other outfit after coming home.

Re: Those who are not finding out the sex...
the hospital does give you a few undershirts
as PP said, no onesies with umbilical cord
ETA: for myself, when the time comes, my mom will buy an outfit after the baby is born - most or many Jewish people do not buy things before the baby is born

Re: Those who are not finding out the sex...
buying two outfits and having DH wash one is not in the cards for me...he can't operate the washing machine or the dryer, yet he's a computer programmer!
I'm going to find something neutral or my Mom will get something, wash it and bring it.

Re: Those who are not finding out the sex...
I will probaby get a white coming home outfit for the baby so I don't have to worry about mutiple outfits. When my SIL gave birth to my nephew in Jan. They were given a couple of onesize [tshirts] but also brought their own.

Re: Those who are not finding out the sex...
With DD we bought a pink and blue outfit and DH washed the appropriate one once Kiera was born. We returned the other outfit after she was born in one of our 100 trips to Buy Buy Baby. We plan on doing the same with this baby.

Re: Those who are not finding out the sex...
Sorry to hijack - but my stepmom and I went shopping for 2 sets of clothing - and kept the receipts - so, after I had Cailen, she washed the boy clothing, returned the girl clothing, and brought the clothes for me to choose the going home outfit!

Re: Those who are not finding out the sex...
For my daughter (I didn't know with her either) I had a neutral outfit that one of my students had bought her with me. It was huge so I am not using it again.
This time I bought a boy and a girl outfit that I will leave home and my Mom will wash for me when the baby is born.

Re: Those who are not finding out the sex...
With DS (and this time too), I got a complete boy layette and a complete girl layette. Both layettes included the coming home outfit. My mom picked up the boy layette after I had the baby, took it all home, washed it and brought me the coming home outfit to take him home in. While he was in the nursery, he stayed in the side snap t-shirts that the hospital provided (he even came home in one, shhhh )

Re: Those who are not finding out the sex...
I have an adorable outfit that is white with tan paw prints and a little teddy bear (we love animals) - its a 3 piece with a short sleeve shirt with snaps, a long sleeve shirt with snaps and pants with footsies (like the polka dot and ducky one posted above - I have that one too). I'm hoping to use that. Boy or girl I think it's cute.

I haven't even thought about it. Then again, it doesn't make a difference to me. Whatever clothes we get at the shower... we'll just pick something!

This is similar to what my son came home in. I love the look of white on a newborn baby. SO angelic!
