Allergies...

OMG! I feel like I could rub my eyes out of my head! And, my nose is so stuffy and runny at the same time! Allergies are such a huge problem for me and I usually take Clarinex, but I don't know what is safe to take now. I am gonna call the dr. just to ask, but figured I'd also ask you ladies as well.

Re: Allergies...

Claritin is classified as a Class B, so it is safe.

Unfortunately, Claritin does nothing for me. I've tried Allegra D which made my mouth SO dry and dehydrated me. Then I tried Zyrtec which put me to sleep. Then I tried Clarinex which was the only thing that worked. But, now that I'm pregnant, I don't know what is safe.

Wouldn't Benadryl put me to sleep? I guess they have non-drowsy.

It does make me sleepy, but if I'm suffering, I'll take it and just be extra cautious. My dr. told me sudafed, zirtec and benadryl were safe. Unfortunately, benadryl is the only thing that comes close to working for me. All of the above tend to make me sleepy, even the ones that say non-drowsy. Since pg, I just try to take the benadryl before bed or when I know I'm not going out anywhere.

Re: Allergies...

Mine are awful, too! I usually take Allegra 180 for 6 months out of the year. But, of course, I can't take it anymore, and nothing else I have tried has worked for me.

So, I've been MISERABLE, but I just have to remind myself of the end result sometimes... Chat Icon

Re: Allergies...

I take sudafed or actifed and it may make you feel sleepy depending on how much you take.... two is definitely gonna knock you out if you're small.

Take 1 or 1.5 tablets and see what it does.

I used the plain red sudafed and nasal spray. The doctor said that was fine.

Re: Allergies...

I have been on a cocktail of Singulair and Nasonex for years. Singulair was approved by both my RE and my OB/GYN.Anything like Benadryl, Zyrtec or Claritin has a heavily sedating effect on me and falling asleep in the middle of a work day is not an option.

I have been suffering for a few weeks now. I am so congested Chat Icon Now I have a really really bad cough and I lost my voice. I tried Benadryl but it makes me so tired Chat Icon I have been taking Claritin and that helps but does not really relieve all of my congestion.

I wish this cough would go away...it is so bad I have to wear a thin pad because I keep wetting my self Chat Icon

Re: Allergies...

Allergies absoultely suck. I called my dr on friday, she said that I can take, Claritin. zyrtec or benedryl. I bought the zyrtec today and in reading the label and these posts, I may either exchange it for the claritin in hopes that it wont make me sleepy or I will try to take it at night before I go to bed, hopefully I wont over sleep, it says it lasts for 24 hours. One more pill to add to my prenatals that I take at night.

I've had a sore throat for days, the runny nose, etc..but as krissy888 said, I'm not taking anything at all and just dealing with it. Hopefully it will get better soon.
