Oh My God- Crazy Story!!!!!!
So I am laying in my yard on a lounge chair with my dogs and cat. All of a sudden I hear a ruckus coming from the tree next to me. I sit up look over and these 2 squirrels come running out of the tree chasing each other and one jumps right on my legs!!!!!!!!!!!!! I start screaming and kicking, I fling the thing off of me, I think he was more scared than I was and he left behind some nail marks from clinging to my legs while I flailed them around. One tiny spot was bleeding just a little little bit so I came inside, poured peroxide on it, and called the dr. The receptionist said I should be ok since it was a scratch not a bite but I am waiting for the dr to call me back.
I just took a shower and I am still waiting....freaking out....I cannot believe this....do you think I have anything to worry about????? 
ETA: I just called SweetBriar wildlife refuge in Smithtown since they are what I consider "experts" and the woman I spoke with reassured me that I should not worry about a squirrel scratch and that they rehabilitate them, she's been scratched many times, nothing to worry about. Whew...still waiting to hear what the doctor says of course but I figured who better to ask then the people who work with squirrels.

i never heard of anything like this before!
im glad you are ok , and it didnt do anything worse!
its true about being only a scratch and not a bite.. but still good that you called the doc and took a shower, and used peroxide..

i think the receptionist is right. If it was a bite I think I would be a bit more concerned, but hang on tight and wait for the doctor to call you. I'm sure it was more the scare you had than anything!

i think the receptionist was right - you have less to worry about since it was a scratch and not a bite, but your doctor will know for sure. that is just insane!!

I'm in Port Jefferson.
It did not attack me though, it was just running so fast I don't even think it realized I was there. I almost feel bad for the squirrel, it was just running and playing with it's friend and all of a sudden it's on a human whose screaming and kicking.
I am soooo skeeved right now....

eta: that is CRAZY! I'm surprised your dog and cat didn't go after the squirrels....my dogs don't let anything in our yard!
