What should we give???

My DH & I are going over our friend's house today. They are recently engaged and they bought this beautiful house in St. James. They want us to come over to show us around the town and have dinner.

I cannot show up empty handed. What can I bring? Dh doesn't want to bring wine...I don't think they're big drinkers.

What about and orchid plant or soemhting to that extent, nto flowes but somethign they can enjoy for a while

I often bring plants or flowers. A gift basket with cookies and chocolates might be nice too. One hostess gift I bought someone was a Godiva coffee variety. I got it at Godiva in Roosevelt Field - it is a gift box with 4 or 5 different flavors of their coffees.

how about a gift card to Pier1 or something for the house. Candles...

Maybe a nice wicker basket that you can fill with pretty towels for the bathroom?

How about a nice bottle of Red to go with dinner. Im not a fan of flowers or chocolate- if they have pets no good for them or if the person is allergic or just doesnt have a green thumb, chocolate- if they are trying to watch their calories or a diabetic type 2 that you dont know of.

how about a board game, every house should have a board game, maybe scrabble something they can play together. or make a gift basket with two bottle of wine 1 white 1 red and fill the basket with card games, checkers. something fun for everyone!

i would make a dessert of some sort, and then after dinner, you can all go back to the house for coffee and desert

I think the board game idea is cute. Something like Trivia Pursuit or Scene It is fun.
