Question...Payments/Going to court...
if a person owes a company money (ie: $1,500) - is there any way of retrieving that money from the person?
If calls have been made/letters have been mailed...what action can the company taken?
We're talking about a small privately owned company.
Can the person be taken to court? How long would this process take?
it's been two years - since the money was due....
To clarify: The check was sent but bounced...and it's been two years since then...

I don't know about court, but I know they can enlist the help of a collection agency, at least it would start impacting the person's credit.

We've not sued for balances like that but we have used collection agencies to try to recover the money.
Anything like that can also be taken as a write off on your taxes.
