Back from hospital (sorry long)

So after my post of feeling pressure and soreness in my va-jay-jay, I called my OB and she advised me to go to L&D.

When I got to the hospital my OB was there, she checked me and said my cervix was thick and I was not dilating or anything, thank the good Lord. My OB asked a nurse who had no clue how many weeks I was measuring at, she said 30 (meanwhile I am 33w2d) I told my OB what I was and she said she knew that didn't sound right based on my due date.

My OB decided to put me on the machine for 30 minutes to monitor the baby's heart rate and said after that I could go home. So, after 30 minutes the nurse (who had no clue), comes in and says, I was having small contractions which I did not feel. She said she spoke with my OB who wanted me on an IV so they did that. After about a good 5 minutes of her trying to find a good vein Chat Icon I sat there until the bag was finished. The same nurse returns looks at the sheet to see the baby's heart rate and said, your contractions have subsided. I'm thinking, wonderful now get me off this machine so I can go home. Well, 10 minutes later she returns with the resident and an intern who are telling me they want to give me medication to make the contractions stop all together but not to worry because the side effect can make my heart speed up. I said, didn't you say my contractions had subsided? So why is this medication necessary? She said they have but you are still getting very small contractions here and there (which again, I did not feel).

I was like, ummmm no. For one I have a fast heart rate and asked if my OB knew about this. I told them if she did she would not advise this due to my fast heart rate. They left the room and in walks in a nurse on the next shift who knew her stuff. She asked what the problem was and when I told her about the medication they wanted to give me she looked at the chart and said you are hardly having any contractions and said the IV helped. She said it's not necessary at all, called my OB who also agreed and said I was free to go. She said this is completely normal to happen for someone a few days shy of 34 weeks. She took me off the machine and I was free to go.

I was there for almost 5 hours! They were getting ready to inject me with medication to make contractions I wasn't even feeling go away. Thank God that nurse walked in, I knew it wasn't necessary. Sometimes it makes me think they just do unnecessary treatments for the money, so sad if that's is in fact the case.

Warning: Just be more cautious of this.
