Mine came from Italy when they were teenagers..I dont know if this makes sense but they were Modernized Traditional Italian parents!

Totally modern. There were never any punishments in my house, only discussions, there were always "learning experiences" from stuff. My mom was the president of a women's group and taught my sister and I to take pride in being a strong woman, my dad was a total sensitive mushy man. They meditated and did yoga and tried new things all the time. I am so grateful for my parents and the way they brough me up!
wow that sounds like a great way to grow up.
