OH MY GOSH!!!!!...........OUCH!!!!!!!
I woke up on Saturday morning with a sharp (periodic) nerve pain in my left butt cheek. I didn't think too much of it, it was uncomfortable, but that's about it. By the time I got home last night I was in agony!! I could not even walk or bend my left left leg because the pain was so bad in my tush. My DH practically carried me to bed and it was a less than comfortable night. I woke up feeling better but there is still a little discomfort.
Has anyone had sciatica during there pregnancy which I determined this was/is after reading through 4 pregnancy books and going online. What did you do to make it better and alleviate the discomfort when it kicks in? I'm only 17 weeks so I was surprised by this, I didn't think the baby was really big enough to put much pressure on my nerves but I guess it's possible. Anyway, thanks in advance!! Off to rest my tush some more.

It's definitely sciatica.
Unfortunately, I've dealt with this for awhile--and now that I'm pregnant, I'm sure it's about to get a whole lot worse.
DEFINITELY see a chiropractor--my chiropractor keeps me functioning! If you are anywhere near Farmingdale, I know of an AWESOME one who also specializes in chiropractic for children and pregnant women.
Feel better.

Thanks!! I live in Stony Brook but I have a lot of family out in the Farmingdale area so I'm out that way a decent amount. It would be possible for me to see someone out that way so I would love the name of the chiropractor you see. Thanks!!!!!

Re: OH MY GOSH!!!!!...........OUCH!!!!!!!
HOLY COW YEA!!!!!!! I have been having it periodically since the begining! I am 27w and last night when I was laying flat on my bed I could not turn left or right to get on my side and I could not sit straight up! I was stuck! The pain hurts so much, DH really doesn't understand the level of pain this causes....but he did literally carry me into bed one night bc I was stuck in the dorrway and could not step down on my left leg. I hate it!

That's exactly how I felt.......the pain was so excruciating and I couldn't put ANY weight on my left leg therefore, I could not walk at all. My poor DH felt so bad he didn't know what to do. What's weird is the intense pain just came on like crazy and I went from fine to immobile in seconds. I am much better today but I'm so nervous that this will become an issue throughout my pregnancy now and like I said, I'm only 17 weeks so I have a looooong way to go here. Oh the joys of pregnancy!!

I get that too, but it didn't start until mnuch later for me and is not that unbearable. I do prenatal yoga which helps with a lot of the aches and pains. Feel better!
