Washing baby clothes....

What are you washing? Should I just take everything that is 0-3 months and wash it all at once? Do you wash all the "month appropriate" stuff as your DC grows into it?

What's the guideline with this??

Don't wash too much at a time. You may find that you need to return some things. Your baby could be smaller than you expected and clothes are out of season by the time they fit or could be bigger and he/she never gets a chance to wear them. Once you have the baby you'll have a better idea of what you'll need.

ITA with this. With my first I washed almost everything and I wished I didn't. He was 7.11lbs when we brought him home but he was curled up in ball for a long time and did fit in the newborn size for a few weeks so he had a lot of stuff that by the time he fit into it, it was the wrong season.
With my second I washed a few things and waited for the rest once she came home.

I would do maybe 3 or 4 pj's, 1 pack of onsies or a pack of the long sleeve shirts , a pack of receiving blankets, a pack of burp clothes and I think that should be fine.

I would wash just newborn onsies and a couple of Jammie's then see how big the baby is when he or she arrives. You never know how big the baby will be. My cousin was told she was having a 9 pound baby when she finally came out she was only 7 pounds.

Totally agree! DS was almost 10lbs and 22.5 inches at birth. At 4months old he is in 6-9 month clothing now. For my shower I had rec'd some 3-6 short sleeves, he will never wear. Also he didnt fit into NB for more than a week or two.

I washed all my season appropriate 0-3 in the beginning. Now as DS starts to outgrow things, I go though and see what he has from there I determine if I need to wash it all or if I just take some stuff and hold on to the rest to see if he is going to use it. For instance I washed about 3/4 of his 6-9 month stuff because before I wash it all I want to be sure he is going to be this size during the summer. If not then I can return some stuff for bigger sizes.

I washed all the 0-3 month things, but I waited on the newborn clothing. We did wind up using it, so that got washed when we came home.
