For identity theft.
Someone in a foreign country seems to have gotten hold of my debit card number (or an actual card that traces back to my account somehow) and has charged over $1200 in the past week.
This sucks.

Yup. I went to the ATM this morning and realized that the balance was really low, and the only bill I paid was my cell phone bill. So I came back to work and checked the account online. There were all these crazy things I've never heard of so I called and they told me they were foreign charges.
I looked up one of the biggest and it is from an internet shopping site- the whole site is in Spanish!
I have to go to the bank in person tomorrow and fill out paper work.

I'm so sorry Keri!!! that seriously s ucks!!!!! this happened to my DH a few years back, for around $1K too......all the charges were at random gas stations around NY??? totally bizarre, he has Citibank and luckily they notified him of the suspicious charges and credited him right away. I hope you can get this cleared up quickly! make sure you call the credit bureau's and have your SS# put on credit alert, so if anyone tries to open an account they notify you.

My DH had an issue last month...they got a hold of our credit card # and opened a FED EX account in our name..Im sitting on about 100K in bogus checks that people sent back..
I just got off the phone with BOA b/c someone has my debit card # and has been trying to use my card....

ugggh Keri that SUX!!! I'm so very sorry!
Luckily it wasn't identity theft, but my ATM card was stolen. I didn't realize it til about 3 days later when I logged on to online banking. I saw some really strange charges- most particularly some adult video stores (nope, DH hadn't got hold of my card ). They canceled my ATM card and got me a new one.
I'm so sorry you're going through the stress of dealing with this!!
