Do you use a DVD recorder or not?
Trying to decide on whether to buy a reg DVD player or DVD recorder. Just think it might be useful if I want to record a program.
What do you own?

I don't know of any programs that I'd want to record onto DVD. The ones that I do, I would just buy outright. We have regular DVD players and we use the Playstation 3 for movies in our theatre. I do have a DVR though through DirecTV. That thing is a godsend.

We use ours occasionally. It's nice to know whe can record DVDs if we want to, but it doesn't happen that often.

Same here. Now we have the DVR box so i record onto that. ANd if i ever want to save a movie or something i recorded on DVR i just record it to a dvd

Thanks for your replies. I totally forgot we had a playstation - poor DH had to surrender that when DD arrived.
Does anyone know if you can have a DVR with cablevision?

Cablevision does DVR, plus a lot of computers nowadays have dvd burners in them.

YES! We use ours, and have for a few years. Even though we have 350 hours on our DVR (and the ability to add more USB drives), we still use the DVD-R. There are shows we want to keep that you can't buy, other people want a copy of a show, when we go on a trip, we burn a DVD of shows for DC. Making DVDs from the camcorder tapes. There are numerous reasons to have one. I can't imagine NOT having one now.
