Need assurance....
Hi all! I've been reading this board for a while and decided it was time to post!
I am about 6 weeks pregnant and just had my first sono (internal) today.
They saw the gestational sac, the yolk sac and the baby....but did not see a heartbeat.
The doc said it might just be too early...maybe I ovulated later than I thought or mis-calculated dates....he said to come back in a week and we'll repeat the test. Of course he said to "remain positive" and "think the best"...but i'm finding that VERY difficult and it's only been 2 hours...let alone 7 DAYS!!!!
Has anyone ever had a similar situation?

Re: Need assurance....
I did...MY first sono showed NOTHING not even sac or uterine thickening! They really thought I was having an ectopic pg. I did not see a heart beat till around 7 weeks. My dates were all wrong because of PCOS which give me very irregular periods. Hang in there i am sure all is well!

Re: Need assurance....
I didn't have a similar situation, but I'm surprised that your doctor took you in so early. Most doctors wait until you're 7 or 8 weeks for the 1st sono, just for that reason alone... anytime sooner than that might be too early to get a heartbeat. IMO, 6 weeks is definitely early, and I think you'll see that everything was fine to begin with.

Re: Need assurance....
I was seeing a fertility specialist due to endometriosis, so that's why I was seen so early...but thanks!! I, of course, hope that next week goes better!!

Re: Need assurance....
I didn't see the HB until 6w5d and then I heard it at 7w5d. It might just be a bit too early. I would try and not stress about it for now, it's a good sign that they saw everything else so I'm sure there is nothing to worry about.

Re: Need assurance....
Don't worry too much, when I went for my frst sono I was 6w2days...the heartbeat was only 108bpm and the tech said that it was probably because the heart had only started beating the day before. So you are still early. I am sure you'll see it at your next sono. Congratulations!!!

Re: Need assurance....
Hang in there.
My doc didn't send my for my first sono until 8 weeks since the heart doesn't usually start beating/developing until 7 weeks.
