Swelling.....
I'm 29 weeks and my ankles seem to swell uncontrollably ever since I got back from Aruba (this past Sunday).
Anyone else have swelling/when did it start? Should I be concerned? I'm drinking lots of water and have my feet elevated right now.

Re: Swelling.....
I only started swelling recently, this week. My dr is concerned I might be developing preeclampsia, I am high risk so I see him every week anyway, and they have me monitoring my swelling. When is your next appt?

Re: Swelling.....
My next appointment is Monday...maybe I should call and try to go in sooner.
I feel fine otherwise. Baby still has lots of movement, the swelling is just unreal!

I would put a call in to the dr, even if it turns out to be nothing, its better than sitting home worrying what it could be.

Re: Swelling.....
I JUST started to swell this week too! (I think we are about the same week.) Of course, you should check with your own doctor, but I wanted to let you know that I just had my checkup yesterday. My dr. said that as long as you are less swollen in the morning, even just a little, then it's normal. He said if you don't seem less swollen then to let him know. He also said the warmer weather also causes you to swell more. My blood pressure was fine - which I think if it were high, there may have been more of a concern. I didn't ask about salt, but I wasn't paying attention to it before, so now I'm going to. I usually think of avoiding salt to limit bloating and swelling.
Good luck - please post if you see your doctor!

Re: Swelling.....
I had horrible swelling for the last few months of my pregnancy.....healthwise, I was fine, but I actually had to stop working because of it - the drive home in the afternoon was near impossible with those swollen feet! Pretty much all you can do is drink lots of water, rest as often as possible, keep your feet elevated, and try to walk around for a little bit - that apparently helps the blood to circulate and can cut down on the swelling. Good luck! If you have major concerns, contact your doctor - it might not be serious, but it can be!

Re: Swelling.....
If the swelling is accompanied by headaches, seeing spots and the feeling of high blood pressure then get to the dr. right away. If it is just swelling, then keep your feet elevated as much as possible.

Re: Swelling.....
Thanks for the advice girls.
I've had my feet elevated for about a hour and half now and the swelling seems to have decreased dramatically.

Re: Swelling.....
I had swelling in my ankles REALLY BAD during my 1st pg. Be careful to stay away from salty foods and drink tons of water. Keep your feet up when you can. I remember only being able to ear flip-flops. I literally didn't fit into shoes Have your doc check your blood pressure to make sure you are A-OK. It may not go away until you give birth. My swelling went away about 2-3 days afer I gave birth
Feel better

Re: Swelling.....
Oh, thought of something else! If the swelling is down in the morning, but gets worse as the day goes on, that's a good sign. It means your body is regulating itself while you're asleep...and then as the day's activity take a toll, the swelling begins.
I always loved trying to jump out of bed for a leg cramp with that belly and swollen legs....ahhhh, memories!
