i did it!!...but now what have i done??
well, its official - i earned my masters in education last week! (Luckily it only took me a year and a half and I have no loans to repay thanks to scholarships and dh's job paying for some!)I love teaching and can't wait but the other half of me wakes up dialy with a stomach full of knots...i gave up a good job and salary to now (mid yr into the school year!) try and find a spot somewhere...ugh....
i know in the long run i did the right thing but where i student taught, the district is small and there are no openings, although i am on the sub list.....i have been sending out resumes and know that b/c of the holiday break it got slowed down a bit....but am so worried....

First off, congratulations!! Don't worry you'll find something. You just have to put your resume out there. Don't forget the NY Times. I always checked NYTimes.com for jobs, especially on Sunday.

Honestly, if you don't know somebody, it's hard to get in on the island without subbing or starting out somewhere like that. In my experience (or from what I've seen with others) it usually goes like this: subbing will lead to leave replacements, and leave replacements may lead to probationary spots. Good luck, and hang in there!

CONGRATS! I'm SO happy to hear this! I remember when you started so long ago! Good for you! You will ALWAYS have those knots in your stomach when you have to go look for a new job, think of it as excitement and anticipation.
You will find a job. Just remember that it takes some time. Have you thought about subbing? It's a great way to get a foot in the door at schools and to make some money while searching for a job. Good luck and enjoy it!

thanks - i've been scouring the nyt and applyingonline. I didn't grow up on LI but luckily dh did, so he is our "gopher" right now....
