This is crap
DH just found out that he has to work out of his NYC office instead of LI where he has been for 3 years.
And no pay differential for commuting. If that's not screwing him I don't know what is.
He's livid.
His company has their head up their butt.

That stinks!
Something similar happened to my father before he retired. He had to work from NJ (instead of NYC). He lived on LI... It was rough.
I'd be upset, too!

agreed that it's nonsense...and they should compensate him differently (more for working in NYC) - but in this job market....I hate to say it - be grateful he's not part of layoffs that are going around....and will continue to do so.

i hope this is not something they are doing to get him to quit.
They've been slowly screwing him and it could be. He has not made an attempt to look for another job. He's afraid in this market to look. Hey, you have to look.
He has a meeting later with his new manager (3rd manager in the last 6 months) about it.
His territory is Queens and Manhattan now where it was LI before. He's in outside sales..I don't see a reason why he would have to go into any office 5 days a week.

One should look no matter how bad or great the market is...one should look how happy they are in their current role - there is always better out there.
If he's in a specific industry, this is a great market for him to look in....

Yeah, thats what my first thought was...he should play it safe for a while and roll with it. See what happens in a few months, maybe then he can speak up about it.

i liked him in LI..he didn't have the commute I had but since I work in the city, I don't see a big problem with it. he probably would work less hours and go in later and get home earlier than me anyway.
When he does go into the city for meetings he curses the commute..how do you do this every day? He did it for 8 years before with another company and was happy to get out to LI.
I think the writing is on the wall and I wish he would start looking and not wait until he gets canned..I'm nervous.
