UTI
Yep dogs get UTI's. Our dog Callie has had a UTI turns out for months she is now 7 months old. The symptoms became very evident so my parents took her to the vet. They put her anti-biotics. As soon as she got off the medicine it would start up again. So they have taken her to the vet probably 3x already for this. Now they take her back for the 4th time, the vet wants to do a bunch of tests and a sonogram. The breeder wanted my mom to bring her to Jersey to her vet. So they took her yesterday. My parents fell in love with the breeders vet. He spent a good 45 minutes with her. Didn't take the easy way out and give her anesthia to shave her, they calmed her and had my mom and dad help hold her. He took some blood, and thoroughly examined her. He found out why she kept getting re-occuring UTI's in one lengthy visit then go back and forth to the vet numerous times with no answer. So turns out she has a defect down there she has a flap of skin overlapping her vulva so it's trapping in the bacteria and when she poops that's also getting caught in the flap. Being that she is a show dog the vet said my parents can wait until after the show season. . . only if the keep her woo hoo clean. So they have to clean it every day. After her show season she will have the flap of skin removed and she will be fine.
The difference in the cost of care was drastic and better. My parents are going to take Dylan(he's retired) there to get neutered.
