Re: income tax question
I know it says on the instructions to do that, but I never have... the gov't accepts the money anyway, and I've never had a problem....
My theory is this.... why mail out a piece of paper that will travel throughout the banking system, pass dozens of hands, and have your name, address, your bank acct #, and your SS#? that's complete lunacy. it's an invitation for identity theft.....

double check your paywork before you submit...
sometimes they include a payment voucher (like a coupon that you mail in that has your info on it) and sometimes there even preaddress the envololpe etc...

yep she did all that. Only vouchers I have are estimations for 2008, but not going by that because I dont have anymore taxable tuition added onto my salary.
I just didnt see anywhere about who to mail check out to.

Re: income tax question
United States Treasury for Federal & NYS Income Tax for State.
I found this for IRS tax payments: IRS VOUCHER
NYS Payment Instructions
You should put your SS#, tax year & form filed on the check. I think your personal information is more at risk through electronic transmissions then going through the post office. I always use a blank paper to make sure the check & ss info cannot be seen through the envelope.
HTH!
