Why is PB furniture so
I want a dining set from Pottery Barn but it is over 2k... I didnt want to spend that much because I dont want to be married to it since we aren't going to be in this house forever!!!
Do they ever have any coupons for furniture?

Did you try the outlet in Riverhead?
IMO, I don't like the quality of their furniture, I don't think it is worth the $$$ they are asking.

Re: Why is PB furniture so
I did get a coupon for 10% off when I moved, so I think they do send them out occasionally. We got 3 pieces of furniture, so the coupon actually did end up saving us a good chunk of $.
It is a bit pricey, but we both love the furniture and I think it is better quality than the other places we looked (about 6 other stores in our area in Nassau.) The other things I liked about them was their customer service was excellent and delivery was a pleasure. I would buy from them again. It was more expensive, but to us it was worth it.

That's probably why they give the employees 50% off!

I have heard that Restoration Hardware gives a huge employee discount too - like 50%

Yeah, they're in direct competition with each other, so they have to. Actually, Restoration was opened by former PB employees in the late/mid '90's. I remember it being a "big issue" back when I was a PB employee. Even with the discount, you still can't afford the stuff!
So many places give employees 50% off...Coach (not home related, but still) does too.

Re: Why is PB furniture so
I don't think I would recommend the outlets in Riverhead for furniture. I have been looking there for almost a year for a table and just about all the furniture has some sort of damage. I would buy a damage piece and fix it, but not for the ridiculous prices they're still asking for them.
My friend got a job at PB and furnished her whole house using her discount- I've thought about doing that over the summer- just for the discount.
