Asked to be part of a wedding
My BIL just asked me to do a reading at his wedding in June!!!
I have never been in a wedding besides my own before and I'm sooooooo beyond psyched and honored they asked me.
Do you think I will be able to get away with not practicing at the rehearsal since our plans comes in late the night before??? That's my only concern.
Also, I wonder what they(meaning: the bride) picked for me to read.

Re: Asked to be part of a wedding
congratulations i don't think its a big deal to not be at the rehearsal, at my wedding the priest called the people up by name to do their readings, maybe ask to do the second reading if there are two that way you can see exactly what the first person does good luck

She'll give you the reading before the rehearsal and I'm sure it won't be a big deal to miss out on it.
Congrats

Congrats! It's not a big deal to miss the rehearsal. Just practice reading it out loud before you get there. Someone will be able to go over the ceremony part with you the day of the wedding since you won't be at the rehearsal - not a biggie.

Congrats! I would definetly get the reading ahead of time and then just ask someone how to go to the podium. My cousins missed our rehearsal (they were the first two readers) and even though I called them and talked to them about what to do, my first cousin totally screwed up (but what a blooper it makes on the video!) and my mom mistakenly told my other cousin to go the wrong way. It was pretty funny but they were both embarassed. Just make sure you get proper directions

Agreed. I did a reading at my cousins wedding. Although I did read it at the rehearsal... it did nothing for me the day of the wedding.
You will be fine!

Re: Asked to be part of a wedding
I read at my uncle's wedding. We flew in the morning of the wedding so I didn't get to rehearse the reading either. The bride sent me the reading beforehand and I practiced it and did great at the wedding. You'll do fine!

Re: Asked to be part of a wedding
That's very nice that he asked you. Just don't forget the reading!! I did a reading at my grandmother's funeral a few months back...and forgot it in the car!! Once I realized, I stood on the altar like a fool waiting for FI to get it from the parking lot!! I was quite the joke of the family after that. hahaha.

Congrats! How exciting!! I don't think it will be a biggie if you miss the rehearsal. My readers weren't at mine either!

Re: Asked to be part of a wedding
Thanks everyone!
I feel like such a dork for posting this but last night I was so happy I couldnt keep it in! I have never been in a wedding besides my own and it means so much that lil ole sis-in-law me was asked over.
I need to start getting in shape and going dress shopping now!
