Would you still use a name if someone famous used it?

DH liked Maddux, but I said no since Angelina Jolie has a Maddox.

idk about maddux, b/c its not common and everyone would def. say . "oh thats angelina jolie's son's name".. you can get away with more of a common name that maybe a famous person used.. i dont think its a horrible name, but expect for people to keep saying the whole angelina jolie thing..

Re: Would you still use a name if someone famous used it?

Ummm depends on how unique the name is.

The name we picked are definitely names of famous people and/or children but it isn't a unique name so there will never be a comparison.

Now if you are thinking a name like Apple or Coco, be prepared to have comments made regarding Gweneth Paltrow and Courtney Cox-Arquettes children.

Maddux could also fall into the above category. I don't think people would realize the connection is with the baseball player versus Angelina's son even though it's spelled differently.

When I gave birth recently and went to see DD in the nursery, there was a Suri in the nursery with her. Everyone kept making comments about how they must be Tom cruise/katie fans etc. It seemed weird to see that name for a non celeb baby

Max was on our list. I am relieved now that we didn't choose Max because Christina Agulera and J. Lo both recently named their babies Max.

If I absolutely loved a name then I would still choose it though.

People ask me all the time if we named Peyton after Peyton Manning?

I tell them considering Peyton is a girl, I'd say negative.

Same here! Thankfully DH vetoed Max from the get-go. Plus, everyone tells us that it's a dog's name and just recently I read that it was the number one dog's name this year!

I would. Honestly I think at the beginning there may be comparisons but after awhile he'll get his own identity. My friend named her daughter Demi and there was lots of comparisons but now it's not even a second thought.

I actually love the name Ashton but convincing DH is another story.

Re: Would you still use a name if someone famous used it?

I named my son Max because I like the name.
It's one of the oldest names in human history, it's bound to have been used before- by a celibrity or anyone else. People will remember for about 1 more month that it's J lo's sons name.
Sylvia's dog's name is Max.
I don't care.
And I like th ename Maddux.

Re: Would you still use a name if someone famous used it?

here's my two cents...

at least it's not a "negative" name in history or the celeb world....

if you named your kid "Brittany" or "Heath" that would kind of have a negative connotation in today's day in age.... (sad, but true)

BUT - who is to say that whatever you name YOUR kid NOW a celeb won't name their kid in a month or a year from now...? They would STILL get the same reaction

If our baby would have been a baby girl, we were going to name her Evangeline (after my grandmother). My boyfriend wanted to give her the middle name Lilly which would have made her Evangeline Lilly - like the actress from Lost. I didn't really care. If people asked if we named her after the actress we would have said no - she is named after her great grandmother. And if we are blessed with a second baby - that will still be her name and I love it!!!

My mother just called me yesterdayand jokingly suggested the name Valentina Paloma - just like Salma Hayek named her daughter. Sadly, it does not flow with our last name, nor am I a movie star or the fiancee of a billionaire.

I love Maddox and Zahara...

I named my DD Ava, and that is Reese WItherspoon's DD's name.

My Dh just mentioned Deacon for a boy, but I said no way, because that is Reese Witherspoon's other kids name!!

For a boy, I am seriously considering:

Ryder- Kate Hudson's DS
and
Jett- John Travolta's DS
