Re: Oh no...
Do yourself a favor - lower the heat in your house, dress him warm & put on the cold mist humidifer. Croup is very easy to get in the winter....it usually starts as a cold & winds up with a neurotic parent.
eta. If he starts to sound like a "bark" - and there is NO mistaking this sound...if you're questioning is that croup? - it's not. You'll know as soon as you hear the barking/wheezing... wrap him up & bring him outside in the cool air. The cold air will open his air passages. I'm FM'ing you now.

Re: Oh no...
Miranda coughs every now and then. How often is he coughing? I agree about the humidifier and keep his nose nice and moist. If he's too dry I have read that it decreases his respiratory defense.

Are you suctioning out his nose? You'd be amazed at what's up inside there.

Re: Oh no...
Alex had that a few weeks ago... she was all congested and it started dripping down her throught which made her cough a little. From what I heard, you'll *know* if its croup - there's no mistaking it. A little coughing isn't unusual with a cold. We steamed up her room with a steam vaporizer and let her sleep in her swing the whole week because if we laid her down in the crib the congestion would get worse. On days that it was really bad, I would take her in the bathroom and put the shower on the hottest setting. We'd hang out for 15 minutes and it would REALLLLY help... it was really scary at first, and I was sleeping in her room with her every night, but she was fine. Last weekend she started to get a little stuffy again and was sneezing so we quarantined her in her room with the steam and the swing, and it ended up going away within a day! Unfortunately, I think what helped is that I got sick with her - she picked up my immunities, got better REALLY quick, and now I"m left sniffling away for the last week or so
