Re: Pet insurance Please help

I'm interested in this also.
I've done a little research on Pet's Best and VP insurance. I'm not sure which is better or which plan to go with. I see more people have VP.

Re: Pet insurance Please help

We have insurance through VPI.

Here's their website: Pet Insurance

We pay about $24 per month for 10 months, for a year of coverage. That's for their VPI Superior Plan. It does not include their well-care plan (which would cover well visits, immunizations, preventative meds). The reason I chose not to get that, was the monthly premium came out to about the same that we would end up paying w/o the insurance. So to me it wasn't worth it.

I got the insurance for emergencies and accidents. Knock wood I'll never need it, but it's a great comfort to know if something happens, we are covered.

I looked into it, and to be honest it doesnt cover alot of the things that you would actually need it for... my parents had it for their dog, and even though the dog was injured in an accident (tail was run over by a car in our driveway) they refused to pay.... i think that unless you have a breed that is known to have alot of medical problems when older then it is not worth it...

We don't have insurance for Arnold so I can't comment b/c I don't really know much about it; but I do know my vet has a brouchre about pet insurance so I would suggest going to your local vet and seeing if they have any brochures.

Re: Pet insurance Please help

I did a lot of research on this b/c I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and something is bound to happen. I decided not to get it b/c it really doesn't cover a lot, you still have to pay a co-payment which is usually a lot and there is a lot of fine print. The best thing, IMO, is to take the money you would be spending monthly for the premium and put that into your own savings account.

We had insurance for awhile and found it not worthwhile. Like you said, it is better to put a little away each month is a saving acct then insurance - at least this is what we found.
