Nikon D40
I just purchased this camera. I also purchased the 55mm to 200mm lens.
Does anyone have any helpful tips on how to get the best pictures possible.
Also i am taking it to the yankee game tomorrow night for opening day and am sitting in the upper deck. Any ideas???
thanks

Not sure if they're exactly the same, but I found this helpful for the D40X Nikon

Re: Nikon D40
We have the same camera!!! Check out our honeymoon pics in my album...all were taken with that camera. I love it!!!!!!!!! Takes awesome pictures....totally worth the money! As far as hints, we just point and shoot and they come out great! We also have both of those lenses and use both. My DH says that the best mode is landscape mode because it focuses both the foreground and background.(he's looking at the camera now)
Hope this helps...have fun at the game tomorrow...GO YANKEES!!!!

Re: Nikon D40
thanks everyone for the replies.
With the flash, I seem to notice it only pops up when necessary. is that the case. I do love this camera as well.

I love the camera. So far I have only used it on automatic. I have not had time to learn the proper way to use it. If you do a google search you can find many helpful sites... here is one I saved. Have fun!

Re: Nikon D40
I have the D40X and I always use manual.
I want to buy the 200mm lens as well. I went to Best Buy this weekend and it was $899. Has anyone seen it lower? TIA!

My DH says that the best mode is landscape mode because it focuses both the foreground and background.(he's looking at the camera now)
Landscape mode will give you the largest depth of field, but it will also descrease shutter speed, so it won't be good if you're trying for "Action" shots.
The Nikon cameras are really quite good in automatic mode.
If you're trying forr action shots, put it on shutter priority with the shutter speed high, for a wide depth of field, aperture priority with the fstop at ahigh number.
For now I think program mode should fit your needs. After that, buy a photography guide and learn the basics.
