cribs that convert to toddler beds...

I have been noticing that many do not come with the guard rails for the toddler conversion - some you cannot even buy the rails separately. What do people do for the rails then? I can't imagine the bed is safe without them. My DH, who is so handy thinks he can create the guards on his own from the drop side rail. Just curious what everyone else does.

I don't know. I have a crib that converts but I am not going to use it. I have a firetruck toddler bed and then will be getting him a twin after that.

hmmm well the convert. crib that we ordered had separate toddler rails and full size bed rails so i bought both just in case the set gets discontinued better to have them now....but i dont understand why some sets wouldnt have them at all if its a convert. maybe check ebay or amazon or something like that bc maybe the store doesnt carry them but they do exist ya know? good luck

I have the bed that converts, I bought a guard rail from Babies r us. I love the bed, actually DH just put it back to being a crib, baby #3 is due on June 2nd. When this little man is a toddler again, we will put it back to a bed.

Not sure - our crib converts but we were able to purchase the side rails for our crib.

Maybe you can purchase the side rails for another crib and modify them to work for yours?

Kidco makes a convertible crib bed rail . Just make sure that if you take the front piece off of your crib that the crib still stays level on the floor. I thought that we didn't need a special kit for ours, but it turns out that we do otherwise the front of the crib is uneven with the back.

we bought a converter from Behrs Munire and purchased the rails too , incase it was ever discontinued. we have them stored under our bed since they have to be stored on its side in a cool place.
